Event: "Sustainable Leadership: Do Less with Less"

Tuesday, January 24, 2023, 10am – 12:30pm PST

"Sustainable Leadership: Do Less with Less"

The winter workshop will explore structural change strategies for sustainable leadership. Faculty and department leaders report being overwhelmed, experiencing burnout, and having little to no extra bandwidth.  Strategies aimed at individual adaptation can only go so far when the overall environment feels unsustainable. The current environment also requires structural remedies to foster sustainability and to encourage good work while also doing less with less. Speakers will share ways they have approached creating structures and processes that support their important but realistic and achievable aspirations, setting priorities that translate to manageable workloads, and differentiating between important/not important and urgent/not urgent work.

Featured Speakers:

  • Andrea Woody, Divisional Dean of the Social Sciences and Professor of Philosophy
  • Eric Klavins, Professor and Chair of the Electrical & Computer Engineering Department
