In the early phase of one’s faculty career, it can be overwhelming figuring out how the plethora of organizations (departments, colleges, administrative units, committees, etc.) within a university work. How does one figure this out? What questions would begin to illuminate this type of information? Who can be a helpful resource? What strategies will help a person better understand the way things work and an organization’s cultural norms and practices?
