Event: "Communicating Your Research and Its Impact to Faculty Colleagues"
Thursday, December 13, 2018, 11:30am – 1pm PST
It can sometimes be challenging to tell the story of your research agenda and its impact to faculty colleagues both within your discipline and outside your department. The importance of successfully describing your work and impact can be particularly acute if your research is at the boundaries of multiple disciplines or if you are working in an area that is new to your department. In this active workshop participants will have a chance to practice describing their research impact to other faculty and hear tips from Human Centered Design and Engineering Professor Cecilia Aragon on how she crafted an informative promotion and tenure self-advocacy statement about her research and its impact.
To prepare for this workshop, please bring a brief, 2-minute, elevator pitch describing your research and its impact. During the workshop, attendees will have the opportunity to refine their pitch and practice communicating their research and the impact of their work with other attendees.
