Amy Haugerud, Founder and President, Rosewater Engineering
With $1300 in her pocket and a line of credit, Amy Haugerud founded RoseWater GHD in the basement of her house in 1983. Having graduated from her original role as a do-everything manager, she now leads RoseWater's operations, business development, and administrative activities.
RoseWater Engineering is one of the most recognized and respected consulting firms in Seattle, Washington, and has recently joined leading international professional services company GHD, strengthening its position on design and consulting for civil engineering. RoseWater Engineering has worked on proejcts across the transportation and road sectors and on public and private development projects, providing clients with design solutions that are feasible, cost-effective, and environmentally sound. The company has provided award-winning designs for sites adjacent to streams, wetlands, and other sensitive areas and is known for creating innovative design features that work with the unique conditions of each site.
Amy was recently a keynote speaker at the University of Washington's WiSE conference earlier this month. She was a member of the Corporate Advisory Board for the University of Washington's Women in Engineering Initiative from 1996 through 1999. She is currently a member of the Seattle University Civil and Environmental Engineering Department Advisory Board.
