"Dr. Suzanne Hawley studies magnetic activity in M dwarfs through large
surveys of field objects and investigations of low mass stars in open
clusters. She has also spent considerable time observing and modelling
flares on low mass stars. She is a past chair of the NOAO nighttime
users committee and has served on the U.S. Gemini Science Advisory
Committee, the international Gemini Science Committee, the Space
Telescope Users Committee and the NOAO Telescope Allocation Committee.
She is currently a member of the AAS Council and the SDSS Advisory
Apache Point Observatory." Dr. Hawley earned her PhD from the
University of Texas in 1989 and joined the UW Department of Astronomy in
1999.
