Karan L. Watson has served as Dean of Faculties and Associate Provost at
Texas A&M University since February 2002. She is a Regents Professor of
Electrical Engineering. She has previously served as Associate Dean of
Graduate and Undergraduate Studies in the Dwight Look College of
Engineering at Texas A&M University. Dr. Watson is a Registered
Professional Engineer in the State of Texas. Her research interests
include Engineering Education, Real Time Diagnostic Systems, and Signal
Processing Systems. Dr. Watson holds scientific and professional
memberships in IEEE, ASEE, Eta Kappa Nu, Tau Beta Pi, WEPAN (Women in
Engineering Program Advocates Network), and NAMEPA (National Association
of Minority Engineering Program Administrators). She is the recipient of
numerous national, state, university, college, and departmental awards
including the U.S. President's Award for Excellence in Science and
Technology for mentoring, the Charles W. Crawford Teaching Award in the
College of Engineering, and the American Society of Engineering
Educator's Minorities in Engineering Award.
