Janet Kavandi, NASA Astronaut
Dr. Kavandi earned a doctorate in chemistry from the University of
Washington in 1990 and was selected as an astronaut candidate in 1994.
She has logged 33 days in space and traveled 13.1 million miles in 535
Earth orbits. Her missions have included the final space shuttle mission
to the Russian space station Mir and a trip to the International Space
Station. She has also worked in NASA's mission control in charge of
spacecraft communications. All this while being a mother of two!!
