Maximizing the Potential of Scientists in Japan: promoting equal participation for women scientists through leadership development.

In order to examine current status in gender equality in academic societies in Japan, we inquired about the numbers of women involved in leadership activities in society conferences/annual meetings as these activities are critical in shaping scientific careers. The results show clear bias against female scientists.
