The post emphasizes that advancing DEI in STEM is a leadership issue, both at a personal and structural level. The article includes four strategies to affect DEI in STEM: (a) Acknowledge that we are all biased, stay on guard, and commit to growing our DEI skills; (b) Build accountability measures; (c) Go beyond goals (“what”) to create action plans (“how”); and (d) Examine norms, structures and systems that perpetuate bias.
