This session is a special topical mentoring-for-leadership lunch. Our panelists will share their experiences with leadership within their disciplinary community (e.g., interdisciplinary research collaboration leader, journal editor, professional society leadership position, other research center-type leadership positions). Other potential topics to discuss at this lunch include leadership experiences from the stand-point of women in leadership roles; strategies to balance being perceived as nice and fair without being perceived as a push-over; how to most effectively get work done; leading when the position may not have a lot of “teeth” by virtue of the structure of the position; and what pitfalls to avoid with respect to these types of leadership roles.
